Thank you for supporting the Food Bank of Delaware through volunteerism. Volunteers are the heart and soul of this organization!
You are registering for a Garden shift. The Garden provides an opportunity for us to grow food for our neighbors in need, while also providing educational opportunities to our community. Produce grown will be distributed onsite at the Healthy Pantry Center and through community partners.
Please review the following requirements prior to arrival to your shift. Adherence to the following guidelines is mandatory and will help keep our workplace safe and efficient.
- Please wear appropriate footwear and clothes to work outside rain or shine.
- Hats, gloves, and boots are highly suggested.
- Closed toed shoes are required.
- Due to the nature of the work volunteers will get dirty.
- Volunteers may be asked to assist with harvesting, washing, hand weeding or packaging produce, and will need to follow strict policies for safe produce handling.
- Volunteers may be required to lift as much as 20lbs.
- Volunteers under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult volunteer. Minimum age for Garden is 7.
- Both adults and children must have their own individual accounts and be signed up for each event that they plan on attending.
- We have water fountains and encourage volunteers to bring their own water container.
- Park along the fence in the rear by the loading docks, near the greenhouses
